Creating and Managing Groups

Groups are collections of contacts.You view and manage groups under the “Subscribers” tab in the SimpleTexting application.

 

A group is automatically created when you create a keyword. People who subscribe to a list by texting that keyword become contacts in that group, and this is the only way subscribers can be added to the group. However, you can create a new group first and then assign it to a keyword, if you wish.
 

Creating a New Group

Step 1. Under the “Subscribers” tab, select the “Add New Group” button on the left or the “New Group” button at the bottom of the page.
 


Step 2. In the “Add” Group” page,give the group a name. You will select this group name when you send the group’s contacts a message.
 


Step 3. If you wish, type a description of the group in the “Group Description” box.
Step 4. Click the “Add Group” button.
 

Editing and Deleting Groups

Click the “Subscribers” tab. You will go to the “View Groups” page where you can edit and delete groups. Groups associated with a keyword (keywords are marked with asterisks) can’t be deleted without deleting a keyword first.

Note: Although you cannot delete groups associated with keywords, you can delete the keywords. If you do so, the groups and their contacts are not deleted. After deleting the keyword you can proceed to delete the group and contacts if you wish.
