In this video, we walk you through setting up a keyword.

✍️ Video Transcript:

Hi there, and welcome to SimpleTexting Academy. Let’s talk about how to set up keywords. A keyword is a word or phrase that people can text to your number in order to sign up for your messages.

To create a keyword in SimpleTexting, go to Keywords on the left-hand side and click Create first keyword if you don't already have any, or Add keyword if you do. Let’s make our keyword SECRETCLUB.

Now we can either assign this keyword to an existing list of contacts or create a new list just for people who sign up using this keyword. Let’s create a new list just for our secret club. We can call it ‘Important Customers.’

✔️ Auto-confirmation message

Now type out your Auto-Confirmation message. This is a text your contacts will automatically receive when they text in your keyword.

“Thanks for joining our secret list. You’ll be the first to find out about exclusive offers.”

💡SimpleTexting Tip: You can select either SMS or MMS for your confirmation depending on how many characters you need or if you'd like to include rich media in the body of your message.

👌 Compliance Message

Below, you’ll see your free compliance message already set up. All you need to do is set your message frequency here.

🛎️ Triggers

Triggers allow you to send more information when a subscriber replies with a certain 'trigger word' within your auto-confirmation message. Rather than including the website in the auto-confirmation message, for example, we can encourage people to reply 'Order.’ Now, when you create a trigger with the word 'Order' you can reply back with the link. Remember, though triggers are useful in some cases, they are not needed on every keyword.

🔧 Additional Parameters

Here you’ll see a few additional options. Contacts will only receive your auto-confirmation message once by default. If you want them to receive it every time they text in your keyword, check this box.

You can also add an email which will receive an alert every time someone texts in your keyword here, or you can choose to be notified about opt-ins through text. All of these are optional.

Let’s go ahead and click Save keyword. There you go! That’s how you create keywords.

Up here, you can see how many people have subscribed to your list using your keyword. If you ever need to edit a keyword, just click the word and make your changes in the boxes we just used.

Now when someone texts in your keyword, they’ll be signed up for future texts and automatically receive your auto-confirmation message.

Of course, people need to know about your keyword in order for your contact list to grow. Promote your keyword in your store, on your website, on your products, or anywhere else your target audience might see it.

See you next time on SimpleTexting Academy. Thanks for watching!
