Why carriers don't allow bit.ly and other third-party link shorteners
Why carriers don't allow bit.ly and other third-party link shorteners

Scammers often use third-party link shorteners to disguise suspicious looking links. That's why it's best to use our built-in URL shortener.

If you include a link from bit.ly, rebrand.ly, or any other commonly used link shortener, you run the risk of your number being blocked. Here's why:

Text messages have one of the highest open rates of any communication channel. This means carriers go to great lengths to protect consumers from spam and phishing.

Bad apples who use SMS for the wrong reasons often turn to link shorteners to disguise suspicious looking links. Therefore, carriers see these sites as red flags.

Here's the good news: we have a built-in URL shortener which solves this issue! If you send out a link from bit.ly or any other third-party shortener, we'll automatically wrap it with ours. You'll still be able to see your link statistics on bit.ly as you normally would.

Even better, you'll be able to track your click-through rate directly in SimpleTexting and create segments based on whether or not someone clicked your link.
