Wireless carries have rules in place to help protect their customers against high-risk financial content in texts. For instance, texts sharing high-risk financial investment tips are forbidden, as well as information on loans and refinancing options.
What content you can share about donations and fundraising depend on what type of number you have (like a 10DLC or toll-free number) and your use case:
Donation requests — not allowed on 10DLC or toll-free numbers
Fundraising — allowed on 10DLC, but not allowed on toll-free numbers
Text to donate — allowed on dedicated short codes (subject to approval) and on 10DLC for political use case with campaign verify only
What is fundraising vs. donations?
Donation texts refer to messages asking for money (Ex. “Send a donation on our site: [link]“). Fundraising texts are messages that invite contacts to purchase items, tickets, etc. to raise funds.
Sample fundraising message:
"There is still time to get your tickets for the RHA Chase the Ace! Purchase by 5 p.m. MST to be eligible. [link]. Reply stop to stop"
