Mobile carriers like Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile charge certain recurring fees based on number type. These fees can be broken out into two main categories that we’ll explain in more detail below:

  1. Small per-message carrier fees for local and toll-free numbers

  2. A monthly number registration fee for local numbers based on messaging volume

We pass these fees directly to you with no additional markup.

About Carrier Fees

If you see carrier fees on your bill and have no idea what they’re for, don’t panic. These are industry-wide charges set by wireless carriers (like T-Mobile, Verizon, etc).

How much you’ll pay in carrier fees depends on:

Who Pays Carrier Fees?

Each time SimpleTexting pushes messages to carriers, the carriers check what type of message it is and what kind of number it’s coming from—then charge us the applicable fees.

At SimpleTexting, carrier fees are passed through on outgoing messages from local and toll-free phone numbers in the U.S. and Canada.

Carrier Fees Payment Schedule

In most cases, carrier fees will be charged on your monthly or annual cycle billing date or when accumulated fees are greater than $500—whichever comes first.

If you’re on a monthly plan, you’ll prepay your message credits at the beginning of the month. Then, 30 days later, you’ll receive the bill to prepay the next month’s credits and pay the carrier fees from the previous month.

On an annual plan, you’ll prepay for the year’s credits every 365 days, and your carrier fees will accrue throughout the year. Your renewal bill will include the upcoming year’s credits and the previous year’s carrier fees.

How Much Will I Pay in Carrier Fees?

Since your unique contact list determines which messages will be sent through which carriers, it’s difficult to predict the exact cost. That said, for most customers, the impact is minimal.

If you want to estimate the additional cost, here’s a rough breakdown of the average percentage of messages our customers send to AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint and other carriers.

Carrier

Verizon
